    • We are then told that the bottom number MUST be represented by a note-value, (at which time, 70% of the students drop off to sleep.)

    • Then, (those who are still awake), will learn that all notation in every bar (or measure) of our music MUST tally with the time signature mathematically.

    • Finally, we're taught the complete note-value system. They teach us vaguely that the time-signature formula, is critical to our ability to read. But they fail to COMPLETELY explain those SIMPLE formulas!

      NOTE: The mathematical connotations of those easy formulas are absolutely crucial to our TOTAL comprehension of all rhythm . . . But, we're usually left to make those discoveries, painfully, one mistake at a time, each day, the rest of our careers.
